Freeze Food? Secure Storage. Perfect Preservation.
Storing freeze-dried food within a robust warehouse environment offers significant advantages for businesses seeking long-term preservation and efficient inventory management. Warehouses provide a stable, dry, and dark space, crucial for maintaining the integrity of these highly shelf-stable products. The inherent darkness minimizes degradation caused by light exposure, while the dry atmosphere prevents moisture absorption – a primary threat to the product’s quality. Strategic pallet racking allows for optimized space utilization and easy retrieval, streamlining your supply chain. Regular inspections and inventory management systems are vital to ensure product rotation and prevent extended storage periods. Furthermore, warehouses typically offer secure access and robust security measures, guaranteeing the safety and protection of your valuable inventory. The inherent structural integrity of a warehouse, coupled with diligent operational procedures, creates an ideal environment for preserving the quality and extending the shelf life of freeze-dried goods, supporting your business’s long-term success. Careful consideration of product placement and stacking practices will maximize storage capacity and minimize handling.
Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, ideally 15ft x 12ft, with a height clearance of at least 12 feet. A dedicated area of 10ft x 10ft is a suitable starting point.
Storage Conditions: The area must be dry and well-ventilated. Frequent inspection for pest activity is crucial. The floor should be level and easily cleaned. Dust accumulation should be minimized.
Special Handling: Freeze food products are generally robust but should be handled with care to prevent damage. Items should be protected with adequate padding, especially those prone to bruising or denting. Pallet wrap or protective sheeting is recommended.
Stacking/Shelving: Utilize pallet storage, stacking products up to 5 shelves high. Shelves should be sturdy and capable of supporting the weight of the stored goods. Consider wire shelving for optimal airflow. Pallet dimensions should be standard 48" x 40".
Access Requirements: A loading dock with a minimum width of 12 feet is required. The dock door should be at least 10 feet wide with a clear opening of 9 feet. A minimum clearance of 8 feet around the loading dock is necessary for forklift operation. Ensure adequate aisle space between storage racks – a minimum of 8 feet.
