Safe. Secure. Storage for Contaminated Liquids.
Storing contaminated liquids within a robust warehouse storage facility offers significant advantages for businesses prioritizing safety and operational efficiency. A dedicated, segregated area within the warehouse provides a secure and controlled environment minimizing the risk of spills and cross-contamination, a paramount concern when handling hazardous materials. Warehouse spaces are typically designed for durable construction, offering strong, corrosion-resistant shelving and flooring suitable for handling potentially reactive substances. Careful consideration should be given to material compatibility – utilizing stainless steel or other appropriate materials for containers and racking – to ensure long-term product integrity. Proper labeling and clear signage are absolutely essential for identification and hazard communication, adhering strictly to all relevant regulations. Warehouse storage’s inherent structural stability and robust security systems guarantee the protection of your inventory and contribute to a streamlined supply chain. Furthermore, a well-organized warehouse allows for efficient inventory management, facilitating rapid access and minimizing handling time – crucial factors in mitigating potential risks associated with these materials. The spacious nature of a warehouse also allows for adequate ventilation and emergency response planning.
Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, 20ft x 10ft area. Height clearance: 10 feet. A dedicated area of at least 8ft x 6ft per container is recommended.
Storage Conditions: Dry storage is essential. The area must be well-ventilated to prevent vapor buildup. Surfaces should be easily cleanable and resistant to chemical damage – concrete or epoxy flooring is preferred. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
Special Handling: All contaminated liquids must be stored in UN-approved, leak-proof containers. Each container should be individually padded with absorbent material and surrounded by secondary containment (e.g., drip trays) to capture spills. Fragile containers should be protected with bracing.
Stacking/Shelving: Pallet storage is suitable, utilizing standard 5-tier pallets. Shelving units with sturdy, corrosion-resistant frames are acceptable, with a maximum shelf height of 6 feet. Ensure shelves are designed to support the weight of the containers.
Access Requirements: Loading dock access should be a minimum of 12ft wide and 16ft deep. The warehouse door should be at least 9ft wide for easy access. A clear clearance of 4ft around each storage location is required for maneuverability. Secondary access via a personnel door (8ft wide) is highly recommended.
