Space Requirements
- Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, 15ft x 13ft area, Height clearance: 12 feet. A dedicated aisle space of 5ft x 8ft is required for equipment movement.
- Storage Conditions: Dry storage is essential. The area must be well-ventilated to prevent mold growth and maintain air quality. Avoid direct sunlight exposure. The floor should be level and constructed of a durable, easy-to-clean material.
- Special Handling: Examination items, particularly those with delicate components, should be stored with adequate padding – bubble wrap or foam inserts – to prevent damage during handling. Fragile items must be segregated and clearly marked. Items requiring specific positioning (e.g., anatomical models) should have designated locations.
- Stacking/Shelving: Pallet storage is recommended for bulk items. Shelving units, adjustable and sturdy, are suitable for smaller items. Maximum stacking height should be limited to three pallets (8ft high). Ensure shelving can support a minimum of 500 lbs per shelf.
- Access Requirements: A loading dock with a 12ft x 10ft door opening is required. The door width must be at least 8ft to accommodate standard forklifts. A clear clearance space of 10ft x 10ft around the loading dock is needed for equipment operation. The receiving area should be 8ft x 6ft.
