Strategic pallet racking systems are crucial, allowing for efficient space utilization and easy retrieval based on SKU and order volume. Careful consideration should be given to stacking practices, utilizing narrow-bay racking where possible to minimize handling. Dedicated storage zones, clearly labeled and segregated by paper type (e.g., coated, uncoated, glossy), are essential for preventing cross-contamination and maintaining product integrity. Regular inspections and audits of the storage area should be implemented to ensure proper organization and identify any potential issues. Utilizing durable shelving and protective covers can further safeguard the papers.     Space Requirements

    • Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, with an area of 15ft x 13.33ft recommended. Height clearance: 12 feet is ideal for stacking.
    • Storage Conditions: The area should be dry and well-ventilated to prevent dust accumulation. The floor should be level and clean. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
    • Special Handling: Specialty papers are generally considered fragile. Items should be stored with adequate padding – bubble wrap or foam inserts are recommended. Protect against abrasion and potential damage during handling. Boxes should be appropriately sized to minimize shifting.
    • Stacking/Shelving: Shelving units with adjustable height capabilities are necessary. Consider using pallet racking for larger quantities, allowing for stacking up to 5 shelves high. Pallet dimensions should be 48” x 40”.
    • Access Requirements: A loading dock with a 12ft x 12ft access area is required. The warehouse door should be a minimum of 9ft wide for efficient access. A clearance of 8ft is needed at the dock for truck maneuvering. Ensure sufficient aisle space for forklift operation – a minimum of 10ft wide aisles are suggested. Proper signage indicating ‘Fragile - Specialty Paper’ should be prominently displayed.
