Protect Your Molds: Secure Storage for Injection Molding Success.
Secure and Efficient Injection Mold Storage
Investing in a robust warehouse storage solution is crucial for safeguarding your valuable injection molds and ensuring operational continuity. Warehouse facilities provide a dedicated, organized space specifically designed to protect these complex tooling assets. Strategically utilizing shelving systems, including heavy-duty pallet racking, allows for optimal space utilization and easy retrieval based on project needs. Proper storage involves careful consideration of mold orientation – typically storing them vertically to minimize stress and prevent deformation. It’s essential to utilize protective covers, such as specialized mold blankets or foam inserts, to shield molds from dust, debris, and accidental contact. Consistent labeling and inventory management systems are paramount for rapid identification and retrieval, minimizing downtime. A well-organized warehouse environment significantly reduces the risk of damage, loss, and misplacement, ultimately protecting your significant investment in tooling. Furthermore, the structured environment of a warehouse facilitates efficient workflow and provides a secure location for these critical components throughout your production process.
Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 300 sq ft for initial storage, expandable to 500 sq ft based on mold volume. Individual mold storage should be a minimum of 8ft x 8ft per mold. Height clearance: 12 feet is recommended.
Storage Conditions: Dry storage is essential. The area must be well-ventilated to minimize dust accumulation. Avoid direct sunlight exposure. Flooring should be level and durable, preferably concrete or epoxy.
Special Handling: Injection molds are fragile. Each mold must be individually wrapped in protective foam padding. Palletize molds with 4-way bracing to prevent movement and damage. Consider using corner protectors on all molds.
Stacking/Shelving: Utilize adjustable shelving units with a maximum shelf height of 8 feet. Shelves should be designed to support a maximum load of 500 lbs per shelf. Pallet racking is acceptable for larger molds, ensuring pallets are no larger than 48” x 40”. Stacking height should not exceed 3 shelves.
Access Requirements: Loading dock: 12ft wide x 16ft long. Warehouse door width: Minimum 12ft. A clear aisle space of 10ft width is required for forklift access. A minimum of 8ft of clearance at the loading dock is necessary for truck maneuvering.

Injection molds require secure and stable storage, and cubework excels at providing precisely that.
