Space Requirements
- Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, or a 15ft x 13ft area. Height clearance: 12 feet to accommodate stacked boards.
- Storage Conditions: Dry storage is required. The area should be well-ventilated to prevent dust accumulation. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
- Special Handling: Shiplap boards are considered fragile. Each board should be wrapped in protective padding – bubble wrap or cardboard – to prevent damage during handling and stacking. Pallets are recommended for moving larger quantities.
- Stacking/Shelving: Boards can be stacked up to 5-6 boards high, provided the stacking method is stable and secure. Pallet racking is suitable for storing larger quantities. Adjustable shelving units can be used for organized storage, maximizing vertical space.
- Access Requirements: A loading dock with a minimum width of 12 feet is needed for truck access. The warehouse door should be at least 9 feet wide for easy maneuvering. A clearance space of 8 feet on either side of the loading dock is necessary for forklift operation. Ensure adequate aisle space of 8 feet between racking systems.
