Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 150 square feet, 20ft x 7.5ft area. Height clearance: 12 feet. Allow for at least 4ft of aisle space between stacks.
Storage Conditions: Dry storage is essential. The area should be well-ventilated to prevent moisture buildup. Protect the asphalt from direct sunlight and rain. Maintain a consistent floor surface – concrete is preferred.
Special Handling: Asphalt roofing rolls are heavy and can be awkward to handle. Utilize proper lifting equipment (forklifts or pallet jacks). Each roll should be covered with protective padding, such as thick cardboard or foam, to prevent scratching and damage during movement.
Stacking/Shelving: Rolls can be stacked to a maximum of 3 rolls high. Pallet storage is recommended, utilizing pallets 48” x 40” in size. Shelving units with adjustable height are suitable for smaller quantities or accessories.
Access Requirements: Loading dock: 12ft wide x 16ft long. Door width: Minimum 12ft. Clearance space around the loading dock: 10ft x 10ft. Ensure adequate forklift access throughout the storage area. A dedicated area of 6ft x 8ft should be available for roll unpalletization.
