Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, 15ft x 13ft area, Height clearance: 10 feet. Allow for a 4ft access aisle around each storage location.
Storage Conditions: Dry storage area, well-ventilated with minimal airflow. The storage space should be protected from direct sunlight and rain. The floor should be level and constructed of a durable, easily cleaned material (concrete or sealed flooring recommended).
Special Handling: Diabase chunks are heavy and can be fragile. Each chunk requires a minimum of 2ft of padding on all sides during storage. Utilize wooden pallets with straps to secure the chunks. Careful handling is essential to prevent damage. Consider using lifting equipment (forklifts) for moving heavier pieces.
Stacking/Shelving: Pallet storage is recommended. Pallets should be no more than 48” high to maintain stability. Alternatively, sturdy shelving units with a minimum height of 6ft and a load capacity of 500lbs can be used. Ensure shelving is secured to the floor.
Access Requirements: Loading dock with a 12ft wide access lane. Standard 10ft wide access doors are required. A minimum clearance of 10ft is needed at the loading dock and around the storage area for forklift maneuvering. Ensure the door width is at least 10 feet.
