    Treated Lumber

Secure Treated Lumber Storage: Protect, Preserve, Ship.

Storing treated lumber effectively in a warehouse environment offers significant advantages for preserving its value and extending its lifespan. Warehouses provide a stable, dry space ideal for safeguarding the protective coatings applied to treated lumber. Proper storage minimizes exposure to the elements, a key factor in maintaining the wood’s durability and resistance to weathering. Stacking lumber neatly, with sufficient space between boards, is crucial to allow for air circulation and prevent moisture buildup, a primary concern for treated wood. Warehouses typically offer secure access and protection from direct sunlight, further safeguarding the wood from UV degradation. Maintaining a clean and organized storage area, free from debris and contaminants, is paramount. Consider utilizing shelving systems to maximize vertical space and facilitate efficient inventory management. Utilizing robust racking systems designed for heavy loads ensures the stability and safety of the stored lumber. A well-organized warehouse storage solution dramatically reduces the risk of damage and ensures the long-term integrity of your treated lumber investment. Strategic placement within the warehouse, away from doors and exterior walls, will further enhance protection.

    Space Requirements

    • Storage Size/Dimensions: Minimum 200 square feet, or a 10ft x 20ft area. Height clearance: 12 feet to accommodate standard lumber stacking.
    • Storage Conditions: The area must be dry and well-ventilated. Ensure good airflow to prevent moisture buildup. Maintain a consistent floor surface, free of debris and obstructions. Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
    • Special Handling: Treated lumber is considered fragile. Items should be protected with appropriate padding – blankets, cardboard, or wood blocks – during storage and handling. Avoid dropping or dragging lumber. Utilize straps to secure items during movement.
    • Stacking/Shelving: Lumber can be stacked in a stable manner, no more than 5 pallets high. Pallet racking is recommended for efficient storage. Shelving units with adjustable levels are suitable for smaller lumber sizes. Ensure shelving is strong enough to support the weight.
    • Access Requirements: A loading dock with a minimum width of 12 feet is required. Door width: 10 feet. A clearance space of 8 feet adjacent to the loading dock is necessary for maneuvering forklifts and pallet jacks. Forklift access is essential for efficient movement. Consider a single door for ease of access.
